Our very first mini episode, hope you all enjoy it! We visited Gilby Atkin from The Chilli Club for some sauce reviews.
We visited Juliet Green from The Chilli Beginners Grow Along Group on Facebook. She showed us how to overwinter a plant and how to prep your pots for the up-coming season.
This episode is a precursor to my interview with the legend that is The Devon Chilli Man a.k.a. Cliff Hyslop. He makes all his own products with pods that he grows himself. Quite an impressive set up. Make sure you check out episode 4 to see what I'm talking about. On this show, I review on of his Butch T Reapers which happened to be as wide as my hand. The ONLY pod to date that I struggled with. It was NOT a nice experience! My tolerance in fairness has gone up so I'd love to give it another go. I did a Jigsaw recently which is about the same SHU and didn't flinch! There's hope for me yet!
We visited the legend that is Cliff Hyslop A.K.A. The Devon Chilli Man.
We visited Irena Legierski from A Bit Of A Pickle and she showed us how to knock up some goodies!
Word of the Week - Phenotype. We have a slightly different format show for this episode. We will be explaining certain words that we hear in the chilli groups and forums. The word is 'Phenotype' Enjoy!
Making Pakora with Nitaji Patel. Our very own Nitaji was in India earlier in the year and commandeered a kitchen. Watch what she gets up to! I got to try the finished product in the studio, lucky me!
We meet up with Shawn Overthrow from Henry's Hot Sauce. He shows us that cooking with chilli can be simple and tasty too. Throw away your takeaway menus and have a go! Cheesy chilli scones! Nice!
This episode features Rich Ingham from Shakey's Chilli Shack. He ventured into Wales to meet up with the legendary Dan Reed from Chilli of the Valley to make a sauce worthy of the Women's Rugby team's victory in Cardiff. Rugby fan? You NEED to see this episode!
I review some of Flavour Before Fire's products. Marc Elliott is someone who has got his stuff perfected, perfect balance of flavours, subtle heat (at least for me!) You could do worse than try some of his products. His Mango is now one of my top three sauces, full stop.
The Hot Sauce Society's inaugural Hot Sauce Festival in Peckham. I met up with some lovely people with some lovely products. A great day had by all! On this episode I review a few of the products I picked up there.
I absolutely love Budgie's Jerky. Go on-line and see the reviews for yourself. I've had someone who hates Jerky sing its praises! This was made for Wayne Smith from Chilli Matadors in Australia. It tickles the tastebuds this one! Tony Burridge (Budgie's Jerky) I salute you. The fact that this came 10,000+ miles makes this an epic product to review!
Marc Elliott from Flavour Before Fire has really got his stuff down! The clue is in the title. Perry is rapidly becoming one of my favourites. Strawberry is lovely but personally would have liked to see another pepper rather than the Reaper in there as it's a naturally sour tasting pod (my opinion solely!) a Scorpion or Jigsaw would be more fitting but as I say in the review, this didn't stop me from lavishing this all over some vanilla ice cream! Good work Marc!
In this review, it's Daddy Cool's Okra and garlic Pickle and Ketch The Reaper ketchup. Epic award-winning stuff.
